Career
Asa originally became acquainted with Janet Nwose, her manager and friend, in 2004. Through Nwose, Asa was introduced to Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo, who later served as the album’s producer (Asha).
At the age of 20, Aa traveled back to France to attend the IMFP school of Jazz music. There, she was advised by the instructors to pursue her dream of becoming a recording artist because she was capable and did not require further education. Her debut hit, “Eyé Adaba,” was starting to gain radio back in Nigeria. Soon after, Aa signed with Nave Records. She co-produced Cobhams Asuquo’s platinum-selling self-titled album with them, and with the addition of Christophe Dupouy and Benjamin Constant. Aa entered the radio charts after the album’s release in Europe, Asia, and Africa. In 2008, she won the prestigious French Constantin Award.
