Early life
Combs, the only child of Rhonda and Chester Combs, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and moved to Asheville, North Carolina, when he was eight years old. He has been a vocalist since he was a child. Combs attended A. C. Reynolds High School and participated in several vocal groups, including a solo performance at Carnegie Hall. He later attended Appalachian State University, where he worked as a bouncer before gaining stage time in the same bar. He performed his first country music show at Boone’s Parthenon Cafe. He dropped out with less than a month left in his senior year to pursue a career in country music. Later, he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career.
Career
In February 2014, Combs released his first EP, The Way She Rides. Later that year, he released Can I Get an Outlaw, his second EP. Combs’ first single, “Hurricane,” debuted at number 46 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 2016, selling 15,000 copies in its first week. Combs released his third EP, This One’s for You, in November 2015. Combs was named one of Sounds Like Nashville’s “Artists to Watch” in late 2016.
