Ramsey Nouah, a Nigerian actor and filmmaker, was born Ramsey Tokunbo Nouah Jr. on December 19, 1970. His portrayal in the film The Figurine earned him the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2010. With the 2019 movie Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, he made his directorial debut. He later went on to direct the Nollywood classic Rattle Snake: The Ahanna Story, a remake of Rattlesnake (1995).

Early life

On December 19, 1970, Ramsey Tokunbo Nouah Jr. was born in Lagos to an Israeli Jewish father and an Ondo State-bred Yoruba mother. He was raised in Surulere, Lagos, and went to Community Grammar School and Atara Primary School there. He pursued an acting career after earning a diploma in mass communications from the University of Lagos.

Career

Early in the 1990s, Ramsey Nouah began acting in order to raise money for his General Certificate of Education (GCE). His role as Jeff Akin-Thomas in the Nigerian TV serial opera Fortunes marked the beginning of his acting career. Since then, he has played the lead character in countless movies, earning him the nickname “Lover-Boy” for all of his performances in love stories. He is also regarded as one of Nigeria’s most in-demand performers.
