A former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has expressed that the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, cannot take any blame or credit for the actions taken by President Muhammadu Buhari. He said this during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday.
There have been attempts by government critics to blame Tinubu for some of the failings of Buhari’s regime, especially in the areas of security and economy.
However, the former governor of Edo State said Tinubu never held any position in Buhari’s government and also did not take any government contract in the last seven years.
He argued that it would be wrong to link the actions of Buhari to Tinubu.
Oshiomhole said Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo who heads the National Executive Council has a bigger role in Buhari’s regime than Tinubu.
In his words:
“You can’t say someone who never in any way participated in government should be credited with the outcome of government policies or be blamed either way,”
“I think in apportioning blame or crediting people, you look at their role. It is a fact that Asiwaju by himself said, yes, he co-founded the APC. I was a co-founding governor of the APC along with Fashola and other governors but he never participated in governance, he never held any position in government, he didn’t carry out a contract on behalf of the government so how can you credit him either way? This is just being fair.”
