Tonto Charity Dikeh is a Nigerian actress, singer, songwriter, and humanitarian who was born on June 9, 1985. Tonto Dikeh established her Tonto Dikeh Foundation on August 27, 2000. Tonto was announced as the African Democratic Congress’s deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 Rivers State gubernatorial election in June 2022. Following her election as deputy, she was greeted warmly by the people of Port Harcourt.

Early life

Tonto Dikeh is the third of five children born into a family of seven. Her family is of Ikwerre descent and hails from Obio-Akpor, an LGA in Rivers State. She lost her mother when she was three years old and was raised by her stepmother, who has two children.

Music career

Tonto Dikeh decided to pursue a music career after a successful acting career. Prior to that, she appeared in a music video for Amaco Investments with Patience Ozokwor. She made her music debut with the singles “Hi” and “Itz Ova,” the latter featuring Snypa. D’banj, a Nigerian singer, signed her to his record label, DB Records, on June 13, 2014. In March 2015, Tonto Dikeh announced her departure from DB Records.
